This is the last day of Febuary and the last day of  this months 29 faces challenge.

Also a tribute to the wonderful Leonard Nimoy who passed away this week.
I didnt realize that he wrote poetry aswell and I found this snippet which he had shared on twitter a few days before his death

"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory"

Thank you to the lovely Ayala Art for hosting this challenge and to everyone who has taken part
I hope we can all get together and do it again in September but until then:

29 faces day 27 'My One Line Experience'

Hello and Welcome

While visiting all your lovely blogs and looking at all the wonderful art i came across some fabulous 'One Line' portraits.  I have never tried this myself and so in tthe spirit of the challenge i thought i would give it a go..... I soon found out this was easier said than done !!

I am not crazy about the outcome this portrait but thought I would post it anyway.
It is based on myself, looking in the mirror, I tried to look a little less 'serious' than I did in my first self portrait with a bit of a smile. When I started this I thought how others create great images with a skilfully wiggled line but as i worked I found it very hard to stop! My pen seemed to get carried away and I was suprised at how much I thought about tone and shade.  I just couldnt leave it alone without adding 'a little more shading here and there'. Eventually I felt I was nearing the point where i was just going to over work the whole thing and ruin it completely, so I reluctantly stopped at this point. Still not happy but i think it may be because i am so used to painting and adding layers of colour until I am satisfied.
This was way out of my comfort zone....but Hay, it was an experience!
PS. I dont have a moustache in real life!!

29 Faces day 23 -26 'Photo booth Family'

Hello and Welcome

Today i have had some fun experimenting and this little painting is full of 'firsts' for me

Photo Booth Family
acrylic on paper

I have never tried to paint a family before but while looking for some inspiration on Google images I came across some photo booth pictures and thought how they often capture people 'off gaurd' even when they know the flash is coming.
People often make silly faces in photo booths. Unless you are using the booth for the serious buisness of an ID picture they are often used for fun like a ride at the fair.
My family are all looking in different directions except for the little girl who is poking her tongue out!
The painting is smaller than I usually paint.  I have never painted an ATC so I thought I would try the small size.  I have also tried to keep the paint quite loose more like a water colour wash and not worried too much about brush marks showing.
It was a fun painting to do and a great theme for the next challenge.  Also as there are four faces I am ahead of myself for the first time too which will give me some time to visit all your blogs too!!
